The Women's Community Wellness Center, located in the Stratfield section of Fairfield, a community full of busy women, and families, opened to serve the women in our area and those nearby through every cycle of life through group classes, workshops, and gatherings. Our clients choose to  live a healthy and fulfilling life, knowing that wellness is more than being free from illness, but it is a process of change and growth towards a mentally and physically healthy lifestyle.

Your health and wellness matter!  Everything we feel and do relates to our well-being and  directly affects our actions and emotions. Our wellness center is based on holistically addressing women's well-being through classes and workshops, as well as services of our nurse practitioner and sober coach, Joy Herbst.  We offer multiple classes in yoga, bellydance, meditation, nutrition, women's circles, and more.

Yoga of Recovery (YoR) integrates the wisdom of Yoga and Ayurveda with the modern recovery ideas and the tools of 12-Step Recovery. It is open to all who are looking to overcome self-destructive or addictive tendencies.

Classes incorporate Hatha yoga asanas (suitable for all levels) along with Pranayama  (breathing exercises) and conscious relaxation. All this helps to develop not only the body, but also to broaden the mental faculties and spiritual capacities. Yoga exercises improve the health of the spine and aid the proper function of the internal organs. They also work on the  nervous system and the endocrine system (glands and hormones) therefore  restoring health and balance to the entire system.

Local classes will resume later this Spring with Joy at the new Women's Community Wellness Center in Fairfield.

Durga Leela, the creator of Yoga of Recovery, also offers YOR retreats in CA, VA, Bahamas, Vietnam.
