The Sober Woman group was created with the purpose of supporting women in finding their individual path in recovery. We are an abstinence-based self-help program for women facing issues of alcohol or drug addiction. We understand that women require unique support and safe spaces to successfully recover from substance use disorders.
We need to feel valued and worthy, to develop self-esteem, and to be supported during the process of releasing guilt or shame around our past. We recognize that each woman’s path in recovery is unique. We support the development of coping skills centered on emotional intelligence, spiritual growth, self-esteem, and healthy choices.
We are not affiliated with any other recovery organization. Our meetings are conducted by women for women. Through sharing of our experiences, we develop sisterhood, and foster growth and self- discovery in ourselves and for each other. By empowering other women to design a sober lifestyle, we are thus empowered.
Motto: As Sober Women we are seen and heard in sisterhood, and we celebrate our practice of presence and forward progress in empowered sober living.
Our meetings twice weekly: Online via Zoom Thursday at 7pm EST, and live/ Face to Face at the WCWC Saturday at 10:30am EST. Any woman with a sincere desire for an abstinent new lifestyle is welcome to join. Meetings are offered by donation.
Email Joy for information about this meeting. Please read the Online Meeting Guide and our Sober Woman handout prior to attending.
We are passionate about creating safe space for women in which to face vulnerabilities in recovery. Our Sober Woman meetings are open to members of the Women's Community Wellness Center.
